Bacon is thought as one of the most delicious foods in Western society. There are plenty websites dedicated to this topic. There are even fan clubs. Astonishingly, there are actually Bacon shoes (these are not truly made out of Bacon but are rather fashioned to appear as if they have been – do a query if you do not believe me).
This, perhaps astonishing appeal, makes us intrigued. Who invented bacon? How to cook bacon? Can you microwave bacon? How to make bacon? Can we do this ourselves? Which are the best bacon recipes? Is Bacon Healthy? Why do people love it so much?
Fortunately, the internet is a great place to search for resources for such information. A quick search shows that Bacon is actually cured meat that is made from certain parts of a pig. There are many types of bacon which come from different areas of the pig (its belly, its side, its loins, its shoulder and even its cheeks). In addition, there are a great number of ways of preparing it: it can be baked, boiled, grilled, fried, smoked, used as a component in a salad and in numerous additional manners. And certainly,, bacon can most definitely be microwaved (i.e. using a microwave bacon cooker), and this is an action people can do on their own.
As Bacon is prepared from pork (although in some countries, non-pork based bacon-like foods are also referred to as bacon, which is in my humble opinion basically does not count), is actually prohibited to eat for followers of Judaism and Islam. Judaism treats pigs as ‘dirty’ or ‘tainted’ animals and as such, all meats prepared from them are not allowed.
