Every year as the holiday season comes around I am faced with the same dilemma of a Christmas gift thought for my husband. As he was growing up Christmas was a irritating time due to the amount of alcohol his father consumed and the fights that this got between his parents. As I was growing up Christmas was a joyful event filled with family assemblies, good food and gift giving. I wanted to help produce cleaner holiday memories for my husband by starting traditions of our own. One thing I try is to follow up with a proper Christmas gift thought each year.
I sense that presents should be anything that someone desires but does not necessarily need. I do not think that the holiday period is a time when you have to be practical with what you give to other individual. This thought went for me with my mom. When I grew up we didn’t have a lot of money. My mommy was forever on a hard budget to meet the standard necessities for our family, but Christmas period was perpetually made unique by the gifts that she would give us. She was not wasteful in the Christmas gift thought that she gave each of us with, but the gifts were forever a luxury item rather than a practical item. When I was little this stood for extra doll garments, a piece of jewelry or a nice figure to complete my collection of Goebels figurines. My hubby frequently received socks and underclothes or other basic wear needs.
It is hard to come up with a Christmas gift thought for a man. My hubby does not wear perfume or jewellery. He does enjoy to hunt and fish, but he buys himself what he wants and his birthday is in the fall of the year so I usually get him something for his outdoor interests at that time. A few years ago we began the custom of putting something in each other’s Christmas stocking all over the month of December. I found this to be a good deal of fun because I would buy great chocolates and other gourmet snack treats along with great packages of java for him. There have been years where his friends or brothers have gave me a good Christmas gift thought, but this year I have yet to guess of anything.
During my shopping trips I have noticed an item that will be different and great. I’ve purchased nice copper wind chimes that made a great gift. He gave me lot of stunning pieces of jewelry packed within musical jewelry boxes and some other special gifts through the years, so I require to keep to surprise him. Most of the things that are advertised during the season as special gifts are not affordable. We have set spending limits each year so that we do not finish paying off for Christmas gifts into the summertime. The cost is not what makes these gifts very special, but rather the ideas and feel of love in which they are presented.
